13. Tribute to My Nurses…
I don’t think I could have survived chemo without the loving support of my nurses at the Icon Cancer Centre (Novena). They are absolutely angels and I could never do the work they do.

From the moment I sit on the chemo chair, everyone goes out of their way to make me comfortable…
It takes two nurses just to get the infusion needle into my vein…and sometimes, it takes multiple tries. It’s a traumatic process for me and it gets worse with each subsequent cycle. One of the nurse is there to hold my hand and distract me, while the nurse manager tries to get the right vein.
They provide blankets, warm compress and even wait outside the restroom with warm water as my hands gets super sensitive to cold due to the infusion.
Removing the plasters after each infusion causes a lot of pain as my arm is tingling from the infusion and they try really hard to be super gentle with it.
I’ve seen them deal with emotional breakdowns, difficult patients, anxieties, and still remain calm and composed. It’s a really hard job and I am so grateful to all of them.
